I am feeling somewhat ashamed of myself. A couple of days ago, whilst strolling through the Auckland University campus, I overheard a young man describe something to his friend as "so gay." And I did nothing about it. I should have done what Hilary Duff does:

This is an education for me as I've never previously come across this expression used in this way. To me it means 'pretty'. Must be getting on it years! Besides, people who speak in this deliberately homophobic way clearly don't know what they're missing out on - the companionship of so many wonderful people. You're right - people should think before they speak.
